Seeds for Hivel were sown almost a decade ago when Sudheer, an Engineering Leader struggled to tie in his Engineering org’s value proposition to the business outcomes. At one of the companies, he was managing dozens of engineers that were geographically distributed. He was flummoxed to see how his tech leaders were relying on their gut to take decisions around hiring, work allocation, project pipelining, and feature releases. Micromanagement and asking for constant updates were not his style of leading. Speaking to other Engineering leaders confirmed the pain point they were facing.

Other departments within the organization like Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success were highly data-driven and he instantly knew that Engineering org has to do better at using real-time data about its engineering resources to help the business accelerate.

Thus, started his journey to create an integrated platform that engineering leaders could use to make data-driven decisions. Hivel was started in 2021 with a mission to make engineering organizations data-driven and objective in their decision-making.
